White Water Rafting, Kayaking and Tubing

Whether you get there yourself, or take the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad (this picture of rafters was taken from the train) to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, you can enjoy the white waters of our area less than an hour away on the Pigeon, French Broad and Nantahala Rivers!

Hiking the Trails

Trails from easy to extremely difficult will put you to the challenge. Our bed and breakfast is only 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and 20 minutes from The Great Smoky Mountain National Park with hundreds of miles of trails. On off season, we explore for you and develop day trips to make your exploring stress free. Waynesville's Western North Carolina location is a great starting point for day trips offering endless hiking opportunties like the trail pictured here at Chimney Rock. Whether your walking or running, reconnecting with nature doesn't get any better than this! Walking

Not even a mile from downtown Waynesville , you can walk to the galleries, shops or to dinner from our bed and breakfast's Waynesville location. It's not only a pleasure - but good exercise and a gas saver!

Mountain Biking

Plenty of marked challenging trails for the avid mountain biker can be found in nearby Pisgah National Forest and Smoky Mountain National Park. Check out Romantic Asheville's listing for trails in the area.

Lake Junaluska Activities

Attending a conference at the Lake Junaluska Conference Center? Why not stay with us and enjoy the atmosphere of our bed and breakfast and historic downtown Waynesville? Only 10 minutes away, all our guests can enjoy what Lake Junaluska has to offer, whether it's the solitude of a walk, or renting a canoe or paddleboat to explore this beautiful 200 acre lake.

Fly Fishing (Stream and Lake)

Year round guided day packages are available out of Lowe’s in Waynesville, as well as a year round Fly Fishing School by Roger Lowe, a professional guide and master of catching Brook, Rainbow and Brown trout.

Gardening Events

Join local Waynesville residents as you learn gardening tips and plant care at Rux Gardens ! With activities from April to October, and almost all of the events FREE, why not include one of these learning activities during your next getaway at The Windover Inn? Then come back and relax in The Windover's garden to day dream the rest of the day away in our hammock, swing, or beautiful wraparound porch!

Arts and Crafts

Browse for that perfect gift or a special piece for yourself from over a dozen galleries and studios in downtown Waynesville . Come meet the artists as they demonstrate their talents in their studios at events like Art After Dark, held the first Friday each month from May to December, or at Haywood Open Studios Tour the first weekend in October.

Community Theater

HART (Haywood Arts Regional Theater) provides Main Stage Community Theater from April through November in a stunning facility constructed in the style of the traditional Summer Stock playhouses of the 1920’s.

Concerts

Come to Waynesville to hear sixteen World-renowned Musicians perform beautiful Chamber Music during the Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival, (Concert dates in 2011 are June 19, 26, and July 3, 10 and 17th.) or when visiting us May through November, enjoy Waynesville's FREE Sunday Concert Series every 3rd Sunday of the month at the Waynesville Public Library.
